What to Wear to an Engagement Session

It can be hard to know what to wear in front of the camera!
Here are some tips to help you and your partner decide on what to wear.

1. Be Comfortable.

You don’t need to go out buying new outfits that you never worn before. If you do, I suggest wearing it once or twice before the session so you can get an idea of how you feel in it or if it fits right on you. Wear clothes that you have already if you can.

2. Be Confident!

It shows on your face when you are not comfortable in what you are wearing. Besides, I want you to be your best self!

3. Coordinate! Don’t Match.

Let’s not dress like twins? haha! Instead, coordinate colors that go with one another. For instance, if you want to wear a floral dress, have him wear one color that is in the dress.

4. Pay Attention to the Weather.

For obvious reasons, you don’t want to be shivering in a dress when it’s cold out or sweating so much in a long sleeve shirt if it is hot out. Have a few options laid out the night before and then choose in the morning. It is also always good to wear layers just in case the weather changes.

5. When in Doubt, Wear Neutral Colors.

Bright and bold colors like hot pink, red or crazy patterns don’t always photograph well. Neutral colors like white, tan, gray, and light tones of colors, photograph well and are easy to pair together. Say for instance you want to year a nice floral dress or top, you would then pull out a color from the floral pattern and dress your man in that. Ex: white dress with variations of pink flowers; white dress shirt or a light pink dress shirt. One last thing…DO NOT MIX PATTERNS!
